Preceding the Democratic National Convention
The Equity or Else coaltion will be in Chicago Aug. 18-19 to convene a powerful conversation on coalition building, policy change and the plan ahead, just days before the start of the Democratic National Convention. Invited guests include Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, members of Congress, the African American Mayors Association, leaders from the National Education Association, the American Federation of Teachers, as well as community organizations from across the U.S. and more.
TOWARD A NATIONAL
EQUITY RESOLUTION
Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson and Journey for Justice Alliance leaders, along with education union leaders, members of Congress and mayors, will present their vision for addressing systemic inequities by highlighting the critical role of education and community-driven solutions in shaping national policy.
As the Democratic National Convention revs up, Johnson and J4J will host a series of three events bringing together these leaders with grassroots organizers from across the country.
Starting Sunday, August 18, the series opens with an invitation-only Black Mayors' and Grassroots Leaders' Luncheon, a National Racial Equity Summit and concluding with a tour of Sustainable Community Schools on Monday, August 19.The events are being held in partnership with the Equity or Else coalition, African American Mayors Association and the Alliance to Reclaim Our Schools.
